FIRST YOU HAD TO FILL IN AN EXERCISE WHICH YOU HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN 2 TYPES OF FUTURE: SIMPLE PRESENT/PRESENT CONTINUOUS, INMEDIATE FUTURE OR SIMPLE FUTURE. THEN WE HAD A TEXT TO FILL IN WITH THE APPRECIATE FUTURE TENSE. WE CHECKED THOSE TENSES BY DOING A LISTENING. YOU DID IT VERY WELL.
WE ALSO PRACTISED EXPRESSIONS WITH THE VERBS= GO- MAKE- READ.

THEN WE DID AN SPEAKING ACTIVITY IN WHICH YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO ROLEPLAY THE SITUATION BEWTEEN TWO PEOPLE. ONE STUDENT WAS A CROSS- CULTURAL CONSULTANT HIRED TO TRAIN A PERSON WHO WAS GOING TO DO BUSINESS ABROAD, AND THE OTHER STUDENT WAS THE PERSON GOING TO NEGOTIATE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY.

THIS WEEK WE CONTINUED ANALIZYNG THE CULTURAL CLASHES WHEN DOING BUSINESS ABROAD. TO DO THAT WE REVISED THE USE OF IMPERATIVES.. WE ADDED MORE CLUES WHEN NEGOCIATING: BE FLEXIBLE, ASSUME, JUDGE, EXPECT, INVEST.
WE REVISED THE NAME AND NATIONALITES OF BIG COMPANIES SUCH AS IBM, IKE, CARLSBERG, NOKIA, MATEUS ROSE, ETC
ON THE SECOND PART, WE HAD A LISTENING ABOUT A COACH WHO TRAINS PEOPLE WHEN WORKING ABROAD. SHE TALKED ABOUT JAPANESE MANAGERS. SHE EXPLAINED ABOUT THE GROUP-ORIENTATION METHOD, THE GEOGRAPHICAL INFLUENCE ON PEOPLE, LIFE-TIME EMPLOYMENT, THE IDEA OF BEING GENERALISTS MORE THAN SPECIALISTS.

AFTER A WEEK WITHOUT CLASSES.... BACK TO WORK!
TO START WITH, WE ANALISED THE ARTICLE ABOUT HOW TO COPE WITH CULTURAL CLASHES. WE DISCUSSED THE DO AND DON'TS WHEN DOING BUSINESS ABROAD. THEN WE DID AN EXERCISE TO REVISE THE VOCABULARY OF THE ARTICLE AND FILLING IN THE GAPS.
THEN WE HAD ANOTHER SPEAKING ACTIVITY. WE WENT THROUGH A TEXT IN WHICH WE READ 2 DESCRIPTIONS OF PROBLEMS SOME MANAGERS HAD WHEN DOING BUSSINES ABROAD. WE SPECULATED ABOUT THE CAUSES FOR THE MISUNDERSTANDING.
FINALLY, WE HAD AN EXCERSISE TO RELATE THE NAMES OF COMPANIES, THEIR NATIONALIITES AND PRODUCT. FOR HOMEWORK, YOU HAD TO CHECK SOME NAMES TO MATCH THE DETAILS.
