This week we introduced the expression, how come...? with the meaning of why? but showing surprise . To put that expression into practice, we had a listening about a person called Norman, and you were supposed to use that expression to comment on some illogical situations in his life.

After that, we had a listening about 5 people talking about some memorable lies. We discussed about differences about a white lie and a bad lie.

Once that, we continued with a listening to show politeness through intonation. We also revised some expressions such as Could you possibly...? Do you think you could...? I wonder if...? We could use when being polite. To put into practice those phrases, we had a listening in which you were given two possibilities to answer a question, and you had to choose the most polite. For homework you are supposed to fill in some exercises about the use of how come...?

OUR FIRST CLASS AFTER HOLIDAYS!

ON MONDAY YOU COULDN´T ATTEND CLASSES, SO ON WEDNESDAY WE MET AFTER THE WINTER BREAK
YOU COMMENTED ABOUT YOUR ACTIVITIES ON THOSE DAYS AND THEN WE HAD TO COME BACK TO OUR ROUTINE.
WE HAD AN EXERCISE  TO DEFINE A WORD BY USING THE NEGATIVE: EX: A VEGAN IS A PERSON WHO DOESN´T EAT MEAT, AN INSOMNIAC IS A PERSON WHO CAN NOT SLEEP, AN ATHEIST IS A PERSON WHO DOESN´T BELIEVE IN GODS, ETC. THEN YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO WRITE SOME DEFINITIONS ABOUT YOURSELF USING ALSO THE NEGATIVE.
AFTER THAT, WE LEARNT THE EXPRESSION: HOW COME .......? TO SHOW SURPRISE.WE HAD A LISTENING ABOUT A MAN, NORMAN  AND YOU HAD TO USE THAT EXPRESSION TO DESCRIBE HIM AND HIS LIFETIME.
FINALLY WE HAD A LISTENING ABOUT 5 PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THEIR LIES WHEN THEY WERE KIDS. THEY WERE VERY FUNNY!
FOR THE WEEKEND YOU WERE ASSIGNED SOME EXERCISES TO APPLY WHAT WE DID EN CLASS.
